The Colorado Film Society will receive a grant
from the SCFD (Scientific and Cultural Facilities
District). Since 1989, the SCFD has distributed
funds from a 1/10 of 1% sales and use tax to cultural
facilities throughout the seven-county Denver
metropolitan area. The funds support cultural facilities
whose primary purpose is to enlighten and entertain
the public through the production, presentation,
exhibition, advancement and preservation of art,
music, theatre, dance, zoology, botany, natural history
and cultural history. The CFS/BIFF received a grant
from the SCFD last year as well, and we sincerely
appreciate their ongoing support!!

| Reel Rock Film Tour Hits Boulder Sept 5 |

Sender Films and Big UP Productions are pleased to
announce the 2007 Reel Rock Film Tour, an annual
event that showcases the best new films about the
sport of climbing and brings together communities of
climbers, outdoor enthusiasts and film aficionados for
high-energy evenings of entertainment. This year's
Reel Rock Film Tour highlights King Lines: Chris
Sharma's Search for the Planet's Greatest Climbs,
which will take audiences globetrotting alongside
Chris Sharma-the 25-year old climbing phenomenon-
as he discovers and climbs the world's most
outrageously difficult and beautiful rock climbing
formations. The 2007 Reel Rock Film Tour kicks off in
Squamish, British Columbia on September 1st, and in
Encinitas, California on September 5th, starting an
expanded, two-month schedule that will reach as
many as 60 cities in North America and beyond.
King Lines is the first full-scale
collaboration between leading filmmakers Peter
Mortimer of Sender Films and Josh Lowell of Big UP
Productions. Boulder Theater, Sept 5, 8pm. Peter

| Community Cycles Film Festival Sept 7 |

Community Cycles, a Boulder non-profit collective of
bicycle enthusiasts, will be hosting the BIKE SHORTS
FILM FEST on September 7, 2007 at 7:30 pm, films at
8:00pm at the Boulder Outdoor Cinema, behind the
BMOCA at 1750 13th St. in Boulder. The film fest will
benefit Community Cycles whose mission is to
educate and advocate the safe use of refurbished
bicycles as an affordable and sustainable means of
transportation and personal enjoyment. Attendees will
enjoy two hours of short bicycling films from around
the U.S. and the world. Community Cycles will be
joined at the festival by filmmakers and community
bicycling businesses, organizations, and supporters.
Community Cycles repairs donated bikes, utilizing
them locally and internationally, in teaching programs,
to help anyone earn a bike as a means of transport
and recreation. This film festival will explore the
bicycle's many aspects and uses as well as bringing
together the Boulder/Denver region's bicycling

| Estes Park Film Festival Sept 14-16 |

Showcasing over 50 independent films from around
the world, the 2nd Annual Estes Park Film Festival will
take place September 14-16 at the Historic Park
Theatre in downtown Estes Park, Colorado. Built in
1913, the Park Theatre is one of the oldest movie
theatres still operating in America. In addition to the
Park Theatre, suspense and horror films will screen
at the Historic Stanley Hotel, which is famous for its
inspirational role in Stephen King's book & film,
The
Shining. Student films will also screen at the Lake
Shore Lodge as part of the Student Filmmaker
Showcase. Ticket information and the complete

One of the entertainment industry's most enthralling
women has confirmed her attendance at the 29th
annual Aspen Filmfest, Sept. 26-30, 2007. Acclaimed
legendary actress Julie Christie will participate in
Aspen's autumn cinematic celebration. Christie will
receive Aspen Filmfest's Independent By Nature
Award on Sept. 29. Held in downtown Aspen, the
evening will feature film clips and conversation
highlighting the actress's career at the historic
Wheeler Opera House, followed by a dinner at the
Little Nell hotel to benefit Aspen Film's year-round
programs. Aspen Filmfest's full program is scheduled
for release immediately following Labor Day at

Stories from Times Past focuses on the making of
historical documentaries that are original, meaningful,
and skillfully crafted.
Presenters will share their experiences of making
documentaries that approach historical events from
personal perspectives.
The class includes viewings that illustrate strategies
used in a range of historical films. Areas to be
covered include research, funding,
narrative techniques, style, archival materials, and
music. Please come prepared to share your ideas
and vision for your own
historical film. The Documentary Cinema Institute is
an arts and culture organization devoted to the study,
practice, and exhibition of documentary cinema. DCI is
a project of the Colorado Nonprofit
Development Center.

| The Shoot Out Boulder Announces Call for Team Entries |

The 24-hour fast film competition known as The Shoot
Out Boulder, has announced a call for team entries.
The Shoot Out Boulder, which takes place Oct. 12 to
13, is now in its fourth year. It is the first annual 24
hour competition of its kind in the United States, and
was voted the Best Film Festival 2007 by Westword.
The Shoot Out Boulder challenges filmmakers of all
experience levels to trust their courage, imagination
and determination to make a seven-minute-long film
in just 24 hours. "Fast filmmaking is an entirely new
category of filmmaking, and is not just limited to
professionals, but open to everyone, from families to
students" said executive director, Michael Conti. Conti
expects The Shoot Out Boulder once again to draw
more
then 400 competitors. Entry fees vary, from $50.00 for
17 and under, to $100.00 for 18 and over. Each
additional team member is $20.00 (two-thirds of the
team must be 17 and under to qualify), and if over 18,
then additional team member is $25.00. There is a
special discount rate for families. Included in the entry
fee is a ticket to the awards ceremony at the Boulder
Theater which occurs on Sunday, October 14 at 6 PM.
At the end of the evening, category prizes will be
awarded to each winning team. Prizes vary. For

The Boulder International Film Festival is proud to
announce a partnership with the Boulder Public
Library to screen 10 award-winning
films from Boulder International Film Festivals. An

The films are every Thursday from September 13 -
